My Photographs
I take a lot of photos for references for my paintings, more than I will ever actually use to create paintings. I thought you might like to see some of them. Remember, that like all my art works, these too are copyrighted.

Birds..winter 2015
Hawk
Birder buddy says he thinks it is a sharp-shinned hawk. Whatever it is, it is wonderful to see.
Look what showed up at my birdbath tonight! Glad it hung around long enough for me to change lenses on my camera, and that the camera was handy. This is the closest I have seen one of these. I have seen them perched on the power lines or flying over, but never at the birdbath.
I hope it likes to eat squirrels -- it wouldnt go hungry around here! I am so lucky to be blessed to have these critters in the yard, let alone to get pics of them too!

Squirrels
The brazen little critters think I put all that bird seed out for them! This one posed for several pictures before he just decided to go for the seeds, all the seeds. Is that one of my iris tubers he is eating in the last picture?
Gotta admit the rotten little rodent is kinda cute, but I wish he would dine somewhere other than my bird feeder.

Lions
Leo and Una are brother and sister mascots of the University of North Alabama in Florence, AL. They are 8 yrs old. I stop by to see them every year when I go to Florence to drop off and pick up my art work from the Arts Alive show at the Kennedy Douglas Center for the Arts. I always take my camera, just in case I can get a good picture of them. The following pictures were taken on Friday April 22, 2011.
Bluebirds
These little fellows came to perch on my shepherd's crook outside my back window. The pictures were taken with a telephoto lens through a double pane window. This year was a good year for the bluebirds in my back yard, lots of them and they came often to eat, drink, and perch.
Robins
This family of robins nested about 3 feet outside my library window in a rhododendron bush. They built the nest, laid the eggs, hatched and were gone in 2weeks! The first eggs hatched on April 29, 2010 and the last baby was out of the nest on May 12. There were 4 babies, the last 2 hatched a couple days after the first 2. Momma and Poppa robin were very attentive to the babies. It was such a thrill and honor to get to watch them up close and personal. They were in the nest the weekend of the big storn that dumped 18 inches of rain here in 2 days. Momma robin dutifully sat on the babies protecting them from the deluge. I hope you enjoy this pictures as much as I did being able to have the opportunity to take them. I set my camera up on a tripod and used a remote control on the shutter. These pictures, too, were taken through a double pane window.
