Echappe` (mixed media collage)
Echappe`, a mixed media collage was juried into the Janice Mason Art museum 2013 show in Cadiz, KY. The exhibit will be open through June 29, 2013. The museum is located at 71 Main St. Cadiz, KY and is open Tues-Sat 10 am -4pm and Sunday 1-4pm. The museum is in a former WPA-era post office. Iggy's Day Out (collage) "Iggy's Day Out", a mixed media collage was awarded 1st place in the mixed media catagory of the TN Art League's Juried Membership Show. The inspiration for this work is an iguana that resides in the gift shop of the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, TN. His favorite hang out at the museum is on top of the lighted glass display case -- a nice warm place to be. I gave Iggy his own little "jungle paradise", a more natural habitat than on top of a dispay case, a place he might like to go if he had a "day out" . The work consists of several different types of textured papers that were layered and then painted with watercolor, acrylics, inks, and various acrylic mediums. The Hopkinsville Art Guild sponsors the Pennyroyal Juried Art Exhibit at the Hopkinsville Community College from Oct.1-Nov.1, 2012. Two of my works were accepted to this show in the "experimental" catagory .... Seeing Eye to Eye, and Garden Series: The Pond.
The TN Watercolor Society had a regional exhibit at the Clarksville Train Station Museum in September 2012. This is the station that the song "Last Train to Clarksville" inspired. My work SideTracked was displayed in this show.
2 of my works (Seeing Eye to Eye and Red's Roost) were accepted into the Downtown Artists Co-op show in Clarksville, Tn

Red's Roost Red's Roost is a combination of layered papers and collage materials, which i then painted with watercolors and acrylics. Red is perched on a small sample of roofing shingle that has cheese cloth over it. Red may look a little frazzled, but you know he must have stories to tell. 3 of my works were juried in to the 2012 Arts Alive Gallery Show in Florence, AL. --- Aerial View and Standing Tall (which can be seen in other previous entries to the blog) and Red's Roost. This is the 13th year I have had my work juried into this show, an honor to be sure.
Red and the other works will be on display at the Arts Alive Gallery Show at the Kennedy-Douglas Center for the Arts , 217 E. Tuscaloosa St, Florence, AL, from May 19 - June 15, 2012. Hard to believe the fellow on the left below evolved into the rhino on the right. I wanted to do a rhino with the "armour plating" hide. Not being really pleased with the original rhino, I decided to transform him into what i think is a more interesting fellow. To view some of the stages of his transfromation, scroll down the blogs until you find the rhino again, in his progressive states.
