Your comments are welcome. Wow! where has the time gone? flies when you are busy!
the Gerald Brommer workshops were great and i am busy painting papers, pasting, inking and just altogether having a great time with collage. I have an up coming show in Hopkinsville, KY in September entitled "Paper/ Paint/ Print. The show will be at the Hopkinsville Community College for the month of September 2010. Art Seen will be having a show "Variety: the Spice of Life" for the month of August at the Hopkinsville Community College. spring in hendersonville, nc was great at the kanuga watercolor workshops. lots of pollen in the air, but all seemed to handle it well, no doubt because the temperature was great and NO RAIN! speaking of rain, last weekend was a doosey! 18 inches in just 2 days!!! luckily we had no flooding problems at our place, but it was very close, and things that have never been under water before, were way underwater by several feet! just a couple country blocks from here the river was very deeply flooded and roads were closed and destroyed. people and businesses will be cleaning up and repairing for a long time. on a much brighter note, i have been watching a family of nesting robins right outside my window. the view is so good i set up my camera on a tripod and check every time i go by and usually snap a few pics -- well i have more like hundreds of pics! i am sure there are a few paintings coming up from this. your comments are welcome. I hope you have had a good new year so far and kept all those new year's resolutions! One of my resolutions is to learn how to manage my own blog---I am not off to a good start. I had one that I thought looked pretty good and then lost it somewhere in space. (I just might have to call my site creator -- my daughter, Jenna, to bail me out of my computer woes)
I attended a Gerald Brommer workshop in Venice, FL in January. The workshop was good, but the weather was COLD, and even snowed. Like I havent already had enough snow to last me for years. I am more than ready for spring and looking forward to another Brommer workshop in April in NC and entering some juried art shows. I particiapted in a goup exhibit with my fellow Art Seen members in the Ethel Smith Gallery of the TN Art League in January. It wasnt a great month for attendance due to the weather, but the show was a good one. I am participating in a TNWS show at the Vanderbilt University Club and a Nashville Artist Guild show at the Gordon Jewish Community Center. Both are in Nashville for the month of March. I am currently painting a couple chairs to donate to the Chair-ish the Kids benefit auction. This is the third year I have participated. Hunting up the perfect chair(s) to paint each year is an adventure in itself -- this year my chairs came from Goodwill -- next time i will count the rungs! (one was missing this year, and I didnt notice until I got them home. Good thing my wonderful husband is handy with the woodworking tools. He made a very nice tapered rung, even duplicated the design on it! I was totally impressed). I will have a solo show in September at the Hopkinsville Community College (Hopkinsville, KY) in September this year. The title of the show is Paper/Paint/Print. More on that at a later date....... Remember your comments are welcome, I would like to hear from you. It has been a busy summer. I took worshops with Linda Kemp on negative painting and another with Frank Webb. They were both wonderful and I am applying what I learned to some of my new works. Hope to get some of those posted on this site soon.
